How it works in Delaware County
- Describe the car. Year, make, model, mileage, condition, and the ZIP code where it's parked.
- Get an offer. It's based on the car's condition and what similar cars are selling for right now.
- Sign and get picked up. If you accept, you pick a time and the car is picked up where it's parked.

Selling in Delco: what to know
- Street parking is fine. A lot of Upper Darby, Darby, and Lansdowne blocks are row homes with no driveway. Pickup can happen from the street. Just mention it so the driver knows.
- Emissions applies here. Delco is in the five-county emissions area. If the car failed, see selling a car that failed inspection.
- Estate cars: if you're selling a parent's or grandparent's car, the Delaware County Register of Wills is in Media. See selling without a title for the MV-39 route.
- Notary or tag service: Pennsylvania requires the seller's signature on the title to be notarized or verified. Most Delco towns have a tag service or notary that can do it in a few minutes.
Paperwork checklist
- The title in your name (or see no title)
- A payoff quote, if there's still a loan
- Your photo ID
- Keys, if you have them (not required for every car)
- Remove your license plate after the sale. In Pennsylvania the plate stays with you, not the car.
